For many families, participation in the JCC’s children’s programs is their first contact with the Jewish community. For years, the JCC Children’s Scholarship Fund has served families during emergencies or a time of need, helping them keep their kids in JCC programs, and ensuring their children have access to the safe, loving, enriching Jewish environment that all our children deserve.

The current economic crisis poses a threat to our Jewish community. Many families are faced with losing their jobs and homes, forcing them to pull their children out of preschool, camp, and aftercare programs. The Children’s Scholarship Fund bridges the gap between the cost of the program and what families can afford.

Since the recession began, scholarship requests have skyrocketed. Your help is urgently needed to make sure the children of families that have fallen on hard times continue to have Jewish experiences in Jewish environments.

These children are Judaism’s future. Donations are critical to providing a safety net for them.

Preschool
The JCC Early Childhood Learning Centers in West Palm Beach and Boynton Beach create warm, welcoming and stimulating Jewish environments for more than 400 children and their families. The JCC is passionate about caring for, educating, and instilling Jewish values in children. As the cost of preschool increases and the incomes of families with two working parents decreases or stagnates, their ability to keep their babies and toddlers in the JCC’s safe, loving, nurturing, Jewish environment is at risk. Scholarships are vital for struggling families who want their children to learn the ABCs of Jewish tradition, culture, and language.

Only $36 enables a child to attend a day of preschool—$800 enables a child to attend one month of preschool.

Aftercare
The JCC Aftercare program is as much about peace of mind for working parents as it is about keeping children safe, happy, challenged, and excited every day after school. Here, children get a chance to play, take a variety of enrichment programs, or simply rest or do homework under caring supervision. Support from the community makes it possible for the JCC to continue to help struggling families with scholarships for the Aftercare program.

Just $54 provides a child with aftercare during a no-school holiday—$295 provides a child with a month of aftercare.

Camp Shalom
Numerous studies show that children who are exposed to Jewish values and culture at Jewish summer camps have a high propensity for living a Jewish life. At the JCC, Camp Shalom children don’t just learn about Judaism and Israel, they play it, sing it, paint it, taste it, and live it. Community support is vital to ensuring that all Jewish children can learn new skills, establish close friendships, and learn basic Jewish culture, tradition, and values at Camp Shalom despite their family’s financial circumstances. Please help engage Jewish youth, and turn them into spirited, active Jewish adults.

Just $60 enables a child to attend Camp Shalom for a day—$600 enables a child to attend Camp Shalom for two weeks.

Special Needs
The highly-regarded JCC Special Needs programs enable dozens of children with Autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and other disabilities to grow in confidence, self-esteem, and bond with typical children. The programs also provide peace of mind to parents, who know their children are in a safe, caring, and nurturing environment. Families with special needs children experience enormous financial and emotional stress and are vastly underserved by the community at-large. There is no government support for this JCC program—it is completely dependent on grants and private donations.

Only $128 enables a child with special needs to attend an eight week after-school enrichment class (art, cooking, gymnastics, and others)—$300 enables a child with special needs to attend Camp Shalom for one week.
